I never went into buying art because I thought I was collecting. I bought what I saw that I liked and it started to accumulate itself. Now the collection is around 250 original pieces of art. Art is a lifestyle and it’s a great lifestyle to live and when you buy a piece of art, it’s for you to enjoy for the rest of your life for as long as you want to have it around you. It’s a great thing to do and I encourage all of our people to collect art and to support our art community.

As a Visual Artist myself, I believe art is important because of the history and culture it represents and preserves. I collect works that speak to me about my heritage, power, and potential.  The works I'm sharing do all that and more.

Peace out, Arty

Artwork of Floyd Atkins

Near the change in the millennium, I met an artist named Adedayo Laoye who took the time to explain art and the importance of collecting original artwork . We developed a friendship and he introduced me to a fellow artist named Floyd Atkins.

Floyd and I also grew to be close friends. While my collection has more than thirty different artist, I want to focus on the works of Floyd Atkins who made his transition to be an Ancestor over two years ago, to honor him. Floyd was a master artist who who exemplified an intellectual and scholarly fascination with art as well as a profound sense of social responsibility. His art makes up a great deal of my collection and what you are seeing is just a fraction of the many pieces, I collected. I’m sure many collectors are investing in art but I invest in artist who show a deep appreciation for our culture as an African people. I hope you enjoy the pieces I’ve chosen

I have been a practicing artist for more than 30 years. As an artist, I have participated in numerous exhibitions of my work and group exhibitions with other artists. My husband (now deceased) and I first displayed a lot of my work in our home. Throughout my years of exhibitions, we also saw an abundance beautiful artwork from other participating artists in these exhibitions. One by one more of my work came down, as we started to collect pieces of many of the artists that I was showing with. As our passion for art grew, so did our collection.
